10 Reasons You Need to Get an Allergy Test:

Identifying Allergic Triggers

Allergy tests can pinpoint specific substances that cause your symptoms, helping you avoid them and manage your allergies more effectively.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Armed with knowledge about your allergies, you and your healthcare provider can tailor a treatment plan that’s just right for you, whether it’s medication, avoidance strategies, or lifestyle changes.

Managing Chronic Symptoms

Allergy tests can reveal underlying causes of persistent symptoms like sneezing, coughing, and itching, enabling targeted management approaches that offer relief and improve your quality of life.

Preventing Severe Reactions

Preventing severe reactions. For individuals with severe allergies, an allergy test is crucial for identifying potential triggers and taking steps to avoid life-threatening situations.

Understanding Cross-Reactions

Some allergens can cause reactions due to similarities with other substances. An allergy test can help you identify these cross-reactivities, allowing for better management and avoidance strategies.

Informing Dietary Choices

Food allergies can be tricky to pinpoint without testing. Knowing which foods you’re allergic to can help you make informed decisions about your diet, promoting better health and well-being.

Addressing Skin Conditions

Allergies are a common trigger for skin issues like eczema and hives. By identifying allergens through testing, you can take steps to avoid flare-ups and keep your skin healthy.

Improving Respiratory Health

Allergy-induced asthma is a significant concern for many individuals. With an allergy test, you can identify allergens that may exacerbate your symptoms and take measures to protect your respiratory system.

Enhancing Sleep Quality

Allergies can disrupt sleep patterns, leading to fatigue and irritability. By identifying and managing allergens, you can enjoy better sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

Promoting Overall Well-Being

Managing your allergies isn’t just about symptom relief; it’s about optimizing your health and quality of life. With an allergy test, you can take proactive steps towards a healthier, happier you.

Do I need to stop taking my allergy medications before my at-home allergy testing or while using immunotherapy?

No, you do not need to stop taking any allergy-related medications before your test or while on immunotherapy. Over time, as your body builds antibodies, you can reduce or eliminate your allergy medication.

What is your refund and return policy? Do you have a guarantee?

We offer a 180-day money-back guarantee promise. If you go through your treatment plan and every treatment is documented and your allergies have not improved, we will give you a full refund of your treatment cost. (All treatment doses must be documented.)

Regarding your allergy test kit, once we process your sample and have your results, we cannot issue a refund for the allergy test. However, refunds are possible prior to having your allergy test kit shipped to you. Any shipped allergy kit is not refundable.

Customer satisfaction is our priority, and we are willing to accommodate you while providing high-quality care. Reach out to us at info@pinnacleallergy.com.

Do you accept insurance?

The allergy test kit and treatment can be purchased with your HSA or FSA account. We will provide receipts.

Do you test and treat children?

Yes, 1/4 children in America have one or more allergic diseases (allergic rhinitis, eczema, food allergy).

Our doctors and nurses have years of experience working with children. We offer at-home allergy testing options in Cobb, Gwinnett and Fulton Counties, as well as nationwide.

Sublingual immunotherapy is used safely in children 5 years and up.

Who is not a good fit for sublingual immunotherapy?

Patients with severe, unstable, or uncontrolled asthma are not a good fit for subcutaneous or sublingual immunotherapy.

If you are pregnant, we cannot start treatment during pregnancy, but we can start soon after delivery.

Those with active oral inflammation or sores.

Is sublingual immunotherapy effective and safe?

Most clinical trials and surveys published over at least 20 years show that SLIT is relatively safe and effective for the treatment of rhinitis and asthma caused by allergies to dust mites, grass, ragweed, cat dander, and tree pollens. Evidence is emerging that SLIT may be effective for treating the red, itchy eyes caused by pollen during hay fever season. In addition, it might prove an effective therapy for children with mild eczema and is currently being studied for its potential in treating food allergies.

Side effects among both children and adults are usually local and mild, most often occur early in treatment, and include itching in the mouth or stomach problems. These can usually be managed by dose adjustments. Very rarely, severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) have been reported using SLIT.

Do you test for or treat food allergies?

We test for food allergies but currently do not treat food allergies.

Our comprehensive 295 IgE test kit tests for environmental and airborne allergens, foods, insects, spices, venom insects, and latex. Contact us today in Cobb, Gwinnett and Fulton Counties for at-home allergy testing options!

Can I switch from allergy shots to sublingual immunotherapy?

Yes! Many patients switch from allergy shots to sublingual immunotherapy when shots become inconvenient or intolerable for them.

What is the cost of ongoing treatment at Pinnacle Allergy?

Your personalized treatment plan with sublingual immunotherapy, unlimited medical support, and free shipping is a subscription of $99 per month paid annually or $110 per month paid quarterly. If you have an HSA or FSA card, you can use it to cover the cost, just ask us for an HSA or FSA receipt.

You can choose to be tested and treated at one of our partner medical practices where you can use your insurance for skin prick testing and subcutaneous immunotherapy (allergy shots).

How does sublingual immunotherapy compare to allergy shots?

A 2016 literature review in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology found both sublingual immunotherapy and allergy shots as effective at providing allergy relief, and it recommends the choice between the two be based on patient preference.

The American Academy of Otolaryngology considers sublingual immunotherapy allergy drops capable of help[ing] patients experience relief from allergy symptoms and improve their overall quality of life and as good as, if not better than, allergy shots.

The American Academy of Otolaryngologic Allergy recommends at-home sublingual immunotherapy treatments as a safe, at-home alternative to allergy shots.

Why is sublingual immunotherapy safer than allergy shots?

Research suggests that oral home immunotherapy has a better safety profile than allergy shots. Studies suggest this is due to the lower reactivity of the oral cavity immune system to allergens than the skin.

The clinical evidence suggests the risk of a severe reaction is 1 in 100 million doses. Out of 49 clinical trials utilized in the Cochrane review studies, there were no severe allergic reactions or cases of anaphylaxis. We recommend that every patient have a discussion about their specific risk with their Wyndly doctor prior to beginning therapy.

What are the side effects of sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT)?

Some people notice mild swelling or itching of the lips, tongue, and throat during the first couple of weeks after starting sublingual immunotherapy. If you have any of these reactions, tell your doctor. In most cases, these symptoms decrease over time as you continue taking sublingual immunotherapy. Moderate side effects have been documented (for one in about 10,000 doses), including:

  • Lip, mouth, and tongue irritation
  • Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea
  • Itching or redness of the eyes
  • Nasal symptoms (sneezing, itching, or congestion)
  • Increased severity of asthma symptoms
  • Skin reactions (hives, itching, or swelling)

Another rare side effect is an allergic reaction in the esophagus — the tube between the mouth and the stomach. This problem (eosinophilic esophagitis) can feel like heartburn or difficulty swallowing.

How long will the results last?

Studies on patients using allergen immunotherapy have shown that 85% of patients that undergo a three to five-year treatment regimen will have little to no symptoms for a decade or longer.

Can you treat multiple allergies at once?

Yes! Our providers in Cobb, Gwinnett and Fulton Counties are able to treat pet, pollen, mold, dust mites, and cockroaches all at once. This is the standard of care across allergists and ENTs in the US and the world.
